Dr. Manitheepan Kandiah
Healthcare Advisor Srilanka
Consultant in Emergency Physician
Biography
As a doctor with years of experience in emergency medicine, I have witnessed countless times how seconds can mean the difference between life and death. In the emergency rooms of Sri Lanka, I see patients every day whose survival depends on whether the right actions are taken in the first minutes after an accident or medical emergency. Sadly, we often see people die not because their injuries are untreatable, but because basic first aid knowledge is lacking in the population.
This realization has sparked a deep desire in me to contribute beyond my daily work in a sustainable way. I firmly believe that education and prevention are just as important as medical treatment itself. That’s why I want to volunteer as a medical advisor for Health Essentials International.
My goal is to raise awareness and share practical knowledge through training, outreach, and hands-on instruction, so that more people in Sri Lanka know how to act in life-threatening situations. Every life saved, every empowered community member, and every informed first responder is a step toward a healthier and safer society.
For me, medicine is not just a profession—it’s a calling. And if I can save even one life or help raise awareness with my knowledge, that is the most meaningful reward I could receive.
